Ad

This is an advertisement for the logo I had made. I used photoshop to make it. The tools I used were the text tools, the brush tool, the transform tool, color swatches, the eyedropper, the eraser, and the select tool. I used the text tool for most of the text in the picture. It was easier to type out the words then to draw them with the brush tool. I used the brush tool to make the smoky background and to draw the XO with the heart in the top and bottom corner of the ad. I used color swatches to find colors that go together well and the eyedropper to match the colors so it looks natural. I used the transform tool to change the size of the text and to move it. I used the select tool to select which text I wanted to go back and edit. I used the eraser to fix imperfections in the picture. Below is my final result.

The logo I made is for a clothing line called OVO, or Octobers Very Own. The line was created by rapper/actor Drake. The line is fairly new and there isn’t a definite logo that I know of so I decided to make my own. The logo is very simple, it says OVO and under that Octobers Very Own.  I used the colors that I did because they went very well together and they are easy to read. They also look good on the logo.  I used a lot of free space so the person that was looking at it had a place to rest their eyes. I also used proportions to make sure it looked even.

My "Perfect" Body

The past few weeks in computer class have been exciting to say the least. Lately we have been studying Photoshop. We learned how the tools work and how to Photoshop photos. One thing in particular that we learned about was how magazines and ads in general photoshop images to make the model look perfect. We saw many videos showing how these companies and photographers use Photoshop. We were assigned a project. The project was we were to have a picture taken of ourselves and we didn’t know about the picture so we did not have time to fix hair makeup or anything, and we were to “fix” it in photoshop and we were to paste our face onto a celebrity body the celebrity I used was Ke$ha. Below are my results before and after.

Before

after

As you can tell, these pictures are totally different but they are of the same person. You almost cannot tell that it’s the same person. I feel that the overall transformation looks fake. I don’t like the way it looks. I don’t like it because it isn’t me. This does not change my perception of magazines this just confirms what I already knew; the pictures you see on the cover and inside of every magazine is not real. No one really looks like that. This tells me that today’s perception of body image is shallow and misleading. Everyone has something they don’t like about themselves, no one is perfect but the way some magazines present the pictures makes it seem like you have to be skinny, and wear three pounds of makeup to look pretty. I think I did a good job photo shopping and airbrushing out the imperfections on my face and adding makeup. I could have done a better job of pasting the face on the body and blending the skin tones.

The Circle Of Mercy Is Timeless

In computer we learned to use photoshop. We did a project entitled "The Day in The Life of a Mercy Student." This project deplicts the daily activites of a girl that goes to mercy. We had to take pictures and make them into a collage and edit them in photoshop. The first useful tool I used was the crop tool. The crop tool crops pictures. It is useful because somethings that get in the picture take up space so I could cut these out. Another useful tool was the redeye tool. It made the photo look better and cleaner. The most useful tool I used was the transform tool. It made the picture bigger smaller or rotated the picture.
The another thing we learned during this project was the elements of photography. we used them in the pictures me took. We demonstrated how they made a difference in the picture and how it looked. When you use the elements it makes the picture look neater. I'm really glad we got to learn about Photoshop and how we can use it. Below is my collage.

Last week in class we learned about the different elements of photography. below are examples of the ones we learned; simplicity, lines, and framing.

The first picture is an example of simplicity. It works because its the only thing in the picture and you aren't distracted by other things going on. But, I made sure to leave extra space so that it was easy to look at and since there is only one thing in the picture it is the only thing you're looking at. It's simple, but still a good picture.

The next one is framing. It's different from simplicity because it has more going on. The curtains act as a frame around the lamp, which is the effect the framing picture has.

This picture is an example of lines. The fence is a horizontal line and it adds a lot to the picture. Using the horizontal line makes the picture more defined, but if i used a vertical line it would be hard to look at. The horizontal line flows better with the picture. It also shows how the fence is connected to the ground and where the grass touches it.

Piracy Podcast

When my group and I made our podcast we kept in mind the copyright laws. We used Garageband which has music and other things that are fair use. We used the features that came with Garage band and they were used legally. We also used picnik.com to edit the photo that we took. We followed the copyright laws and did not use any material that we were not suppose to or that we did not have the right to use.
I've learned that downloading music illegally is wrong because it's stealing. It is just as bad as walking into a department store or someone's house and taking something that does not belong to you. Copyright laws should exist because they help prevent piracy and they protect artists from their work being stolen. Piracy is relevant because it is happening in our society. people's work is being stolen and no one is being held responsible. I think piracy laws are very good to keep musicians and writers making good creations. So many people get away with piracy that it has become a menial crime. No one really understands that it is wrong and it is unfair. If someone used my podcast without asking I would be offended and I would be mad because my group and I worked hard to create someone and someone stole it. Our podcast is something we are proud of. The Evil World Of Piracy

In class on Tuesday we discussed piracy. We were asked questions such as our opinions on piracy and how it effects artists and writers. Piracy is defined as stealing basically. For example when you illegally download a song or album or mixtape, you are stealing from the original artist. My opinion is that piracy is wrong and it can harm the music industry.
I'm sure you have heard of a website called Pirate Bay; this website is a great exapmle of piracy. The four men behind this website were all found guilty in court and were sentenced to one year in jail. they also had to pay 3.6 million dollars in damages to media based companies such as Warner Brothers, Columbia, Twentieth Century Fox, Sony BMG and EMI. Pirate Bay shares music, movies and other files and has over 3.5 million users. Even though they were found guilty they did not shut down the pirate bay website. I think that they should have. You can find the article here.
Another case you have probably heard about is Limewire vs RIAA. Limewire is a program that shares files such as movies, music and pictures. The court found that 93% of Limewire's file shares were copyright infrigement. Limewire was permanently shut down. A judge found Limewire and its creator Mark Gordon liable. That article is here.
I think both of these cases are fair and I believe that piracy is wrong.

Technology Autobiography

Technology has been in my life since I was very young. I started really using computers when we had computer class in grade school. We played games that would help us learn to type so I'm very glad I had that opportunity at a young age. Throughout my years of school my love for technology never lessened. I love using technology such as my cell phone and iPod. I don't know what i would do without those two things.
I also love using websites such as facebook, twitter, and other social networking sites that help me keep in touch with what is going on in the lives of my friends and family. Technology also is big part of my family life. My dad and my brother also share my love of technology. Most of things I learned about computers and other technology I learned from them. I think technology in the future will be even better than the technology now.
I think everything will be touch screen and very easy for everyone to use. Also I think our generation will be very knowledgeable about technology and how it works. I am looking forward to see how technology will change in grow in time and how it will fit in with our everyday lives. I think without technology many of the things that we do now would not be possible. Technology has made improvements for things such as medicine, and education. I feel like without these things we would be far behind in society.
